Youth killed in mishap, labourer dies due to electrocution

JAMMU, Apr 8: A youth was killed in a road mishap in Bakshi Nagar area during the intervening night of April 7 and 8 while a labourer died of electrocution in Nagrota area of city outskirts, today.
“A 25-year-old youth namely Sunil Sharma, son of Manoj Kumar, resident of Subhash Nagar, received serious injuries during the intervening night of April 7 and 8 when a bike he was riding, got slipped in Shakti Nagar area near AG office,” a police official said.
He said the grievously injured youth was immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where he was declared as brought dead by the doctors. “Today after postmortem, his body was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites while a case in this connection was registered at police station Bakshi Nagar and investigations started”, the official added.
Meanwhile, he said a labourer identified as Deepak Kumar (22) son of Subhash Kumar, resident of Tikri, allegedly received a severe electric shock this afternoon while working at a construction site when he came in contact with a live wire.
“In unconscious condition, he was taken to GMCH Jammu, where he was declared as brought dead by the doctors. After postmortem, his body was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites while inquest proceeding in this connection was initiated at police station Nagrota,” he added.
