Youth killed in mishap, teenage drowns in Tawi

JAMMU, Sept 1: A youth was killed today in a road mishap in Domana area of city outskirts while a teen-aged boy drowned in Tawi River in the jurisdiction of police post Nehru Market.
According to a police official, an unknown vehicle this afternoon hit and seriously injured a youth namely Shubhum son of Kali Dass, resident of Bawe da Talab, on Jammu Akhnoor Road near Patoli within the limits of police station Domana. He said the injured youth was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu where he succumbed to his injuries at about 5:45 in the evening.
“The body of the deceased was sent for postmortem while a case in this connection was registered at police station Domana and investigations started,” the official added.
Meanwhile, a 17-year-old youth namely Danish son of Talib Hussain (Sub Inspector in J&K police), resident of Bikram Chowk, drowned in Tawi River this evening. According to the reports, the deceased along with his friends had gone for a bath in the river and while bathing, he went into deep waters and drowned.
The body of the deceased was fished out from the river and sent for postmortem at GMCH Jammu while police post Nehru Market had taken cognizance of the matter.
