Youth marching to NIT Srinagar stopped at Lakhanpur

LAKHANPUR, Apr 9: A group of around 150 youth, proceeding from New Delhi to NIT Srinagar, was stopped by police at Lakhanpur, entry point of J&K State, here late this evening.
The group, led by youth leader Tejinder Singh Bagga, was marching to NIT, Srinagar for hoisting National Flag on the Campus, where non-local students are protesting against alleged anti-National activities of some elements in college administration.
According to police, these people were stopped in view of bad weather and road conditions in Kashmir.  However, district administration has made adequate arrangements for boarding and lodging of the youths.
When the youths were stopped at Lakhanpur by the police, they held demonstration shouting slogans like ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Matram’. Some locals also joined them and offered to accompany them to Srinagar for hoisting National Flag there.
