JAMMU, July 8: A youth was allegedly murdered at Miran Sahib area today, with police detaining 15 suspects for questioning.
A police official said that a written complaint was received at Police Station Satwari by one Ajeet Singh son of Sodagar Singh of Krishna Nagar, Miran Sahib, stating therein that on July 7, his nephew Sahil Choudhary son of Tarsem Lal of Krishna Nagar, Miran Sahib went to a party at his friend’s place and didn’t return.
He said, today, around 12:15 PM, the complainant learnt that his nephew was lying in the pool of blood near Barjala.
On this, the complainant and other family members reached at the spot and shifted Sahil Choudhary to GMC Jammu, where doctors declared him dead on arrival, he said.
Later, the complainant reached Police Station Satwari yet again and claimed that his nephew was murdered by some unidentified persons, said the police official.
On this, a case FIR number 164/2024 under sections 103(1)/3(5) of the BNS was registered at Police Station Satwari and further investigation taken up, the said.
On receipt of the information, he said, the body of the deceased was shifted to GMC Jammu for post-mortem and further legal formalities.
An FSL team was also called to the spot of recovery of the body and incident, which collected samples and photography of the spot was done.
After getting the post-mortem of the deceased conducted by a board of doctors in the presence of executive magistrate, the CCTV footage of the incident and surrounding was collected and analysed on evidentiary value, he said.
Based on the technical and human inputs, multiple raids were conducted at different locations across Jammu District, resulting in detention of 15 persons for questioning about the incident, added the police official.
He further said that the CDR of the deceased and suspects have also been called for analysis to ensure timely justice to the family of the deceased.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
