SAMBA, Dec 25: A youth was murdered by a gang of miscreants at his native village Gudwal, Ramgarh in Samba district this evening.
Police said that some miscreants attacked the youth identified as Akshay Kumar, 28, son of Banarsi Dass. resident of Gudwal, Ramgarh, Vijaypur.
He died on the spot, they said adding that a case has been registered and investigation started.
As per reports, a gang of some miscreants attacked the deceased youth with sharp edged weapons and also fired upon him resulting his instant death. He was shifted to Emergency Hospital, Vijaypur but doctors declared him as brought dead.
Soon after the news of murder spread in the area, a protest broke out in the village and people demanded immediate arrest of culprits.
Locals staged protest and blocked the road expressing resentment over the alleged rising crime cases in the area.
The police have so far not arrested any of the culprits. It has registered a case under relevant sections of the law and started manhunt for the culprits. Reports said that old group rivalry was the cause of the attack.
