KATHUA, July 13: A youth was murdered by members of other community late last night in village Badala after heated exchanges took place between both the groups on a minor issue.
The accused fled away from the site after committing the crime. The deceased was identified as Deepak Kumar 27, son of Romesh Chander resident of village Badala, Kathua falling under the jurisdiction of Kathua Police Station. As per report the deceased youth Deepak Kumar was married few days back and he was sitting in the village with his friends during late last night, when some altercation took place with youth of another community residing in the same village.
The three youth of the other community attacked him and his friends with lathies resulting in on spot death of Deepak Kumar. The accused fled away from the spot after committing crime. The other villagers rushed to the spot and shifted the both injured to hospital. But doctors declared Deepak Kumar as brought dead .
The angry mob of village Badala moved to GMC Kathua and raised strong protest demonstration against the accused and Kathua police. The angry mob tried to move towards Highway but the timely action of police stopped them. The Additional SP, Ramnish Gupta, DySP, KD Bhagat, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Atul Gupta with adequate numbers of police persons reached on the spot and pacified the angry mob. They were demanding immediate arrest of accused persons who were absconding and strong action against them. Besides, compensation to deceased poor family, job to one of family members as there was no other earning hand in the family. The protestors also demanded anti encroachment drive in Badala village as number of Gujjars have encroached the State land and raised structures on it. Even some youth of particular community are involved in drug peddling in the village which is known to be root cause of dispute .The police and civil administration assured them legal action against culprits and possible help to deceased family.
The Additional SP, Ramnish Gupta said that after getting the information of crime, police team immediately rushed to the spot. He said the FIR No 200/20 under Section 302,343,34 IPC has been registered and police teams were sent to various locations to arrest the accused. He said the police has identified the accused and they may arrest them anytime as police has launched a man hunt.
