UDHAMPUR, July 2: In a broad day light murder, a youth was brutally stabbed to death near his house in Ward number 21, Dandyal near CEO Office, Udhampur, here this morning.
As family members and relatives of the deceased blocked Dhar road and staged a strong protest seeking immediate arrest of the alleged killers, Police detained four suspects for questioning while CCTV footage of the crime scene is being examined for further investigation, said DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, Sujit Kumar.

Rahul Kumar (23), son of Subhash Chandra, resident of Ward number 21, Dandyal, was brutally stabbed by the alleged killers, who fled the scene after committing the crime. Some locals and family members rushed the victim to District Hospital Udhampur, where doctors declared him as brought dead.
The incident of stabbing took place around 11 a.m and after the victim was declared dead, family members of the deceased staged a strong protest against alleged inaction by Police. They put the dead body on Dhar road in front of the District Hospital and demanded immediate arrest of the persons, who had allegedly killed Rahul for grabbing the family land.
Family members of the deceased said that they had sold two kanal lands to one Rakesh Gudda, who was occupying their10 Kanal land in connivance with some Revenue officials. They accused Rakesh Gudda of executing murder of Rahul, whose family members were purportedly summoned at Police Station Udhampur at the time of incident this morning. “At Police Station Udhampur, we were told to get bail and Police asked Rahul to go home for getting photographs of each family member. As soon as he (Rahul) reached near the house, the assailants attacked him with sharp edged weapons and fled the scene,” said the family members who alleged involvement of Police in the murder.
Family members of the deceased also alleged that a female Revenue official along with father of Rakesh Gudda had visited their house early this morning and threatened to eliminate them over land dispute.
The protest demonstration by family of the deceased continued till Additional SP Udhampur, Rajinder Singh Katoch and District administration reached the spot. They pacified the protestors by assuring that no accused would be spared following which the dharna was lifted and the dead body was sent for the postmortem.
Additional SP Rajinder Singh Katoch told the Excelsior four suspects, including Rakesh Gudda have been detained for questioning while the case has been handed over to DySP HQ Rohit Chadgal for further investigation.
“A case FIR number 293/ under Section 302 IPC has been registered at Police Station Udhampur and we have detained four suspects, namely Rakesh Kumar, son of Prem Nath of Ward No. 6, Ravinder Singh, son of Madan Singh of Dandyal, Sunil Kumar son of Prem Nath of ward number 6 and Madan Singh son of Hajuru Ram,” he said.
According to Police, there was a court direction for registration of FIR against family of the deceased following which only grandparents of Rahul were summoned at the Police Station and not all the family members. Police is thoroughly investigating the case and involvement of the Revenue official in allegedly threatening family of the deceased is also being ascertained.
