POONCH, Mar 28: The youth from  Poonch area under the banner of Poonch Development Forum staged a strong protest and blocked Poonch-Jammu highway at Nangali bridge against GREF (BR)  and Poonch administration for their failure to repair main SK bridges which connect Poonch city with rest of the State.
Raising loud slogans against district administration at  Nangali bridge, the protesters blocked the main road by staging protest dharna on the highway and also raising  barricades.   They alleged that the two main bridges, one on Darungli river and the other on Pulast river (SK bridge)  which connect Poonch city with rest of the State suffered damages in flash flood in September 2014 but till date the administration has failed to renovate them and people have to suffer during rainy seasons.
The protesters alleged that huge funds have been spent on the name of rivers but the condition of temporary bridges is as such as it was in 2014. The protesters did not allow any vehicle to ply on the road for over 2 hours. The protesters demanded early restoration of Sher-e-Kashmir bridge on Pulast river and renovation of Nangali bridge which is in a dilapidated condition.
Youth of the Poonch under the leadership of Dr Imtiaz Salaria registered a strong protest along with his supporters. Protesters also raised the slogans against the district administration and warned them of serious  repercussion if the connectivity was not restored as early as possible.
Imtiaz said that, huge funds has drawn from the State exchequer regarding renovation of these two bridges but as of now, nothing concrete has benm done so far.
He also lambasted the civil administration regarding the link roads build by the construction agencies towards Gurdawara Nangali Sahab.
Others who joined the protest included Nishchal Sharma, Emar Chodhary, Sunil Sharma, Balvinder Singh, Yogal Kishore, Rashid Ahmed and Imran Gani.
