KISHTWAR, Dec 3: A meeting of unemployed youths of district Kishtwar was held under the chairmanship of local leader and noted social activist Joginder Bhandari.
During the meeting various issues related to the starting of Pakal Dul, Keru, Kawar, Karthi and Burser Hydroelectric projects were discussed. The speakers strongly criticised the Central and State Governments for making unnecessary delay in starting of these hydroelectric projects as a result of which there is unrest among the unemployed youths of district Kishtwar and resentment brewing among them.
Mr Bhandari said that the PDP- BJP led Government in the state has totally failed to mitigate the sufferings of the people since both the parties during the State Assembly election campaigning were committed to start these projects but it is a matter of great concern that they have forgotten their promises which they had made with the people during election campaign.
He further said that the local MLA Kishtwar Sunil Sharma who is also MoS Transport had made promises with the youths of Kishtwar constituency that the work upon Pakal Dul Hydroelectric Project will be started on the basis of his commitment, the people of Kishtwar constituency voted him to power but after coming to power, he has forgotten his promises.
Bhandari informed that Pakal Dul, Keru and Kawar hydroelectric projects were handed over to a joint venture of Chenab Valley Power Projects Pvt Limited (CVPP ) in the year 2011 but since a long period stands elapsed, the CVPP management failed to start these projects.
He further added that the Rattle Hydroelectric Project, Drabshalla was started in the year 2014 by its client GVK and the initial stage 493 persons were engaged in the said project but in July 2014 some BJP activist entered in the project site on the instance of Sunil Sharma MLA Kishtwar and forced the executing agency L&T which led the suspension of work of the project and consequently 493 workers were retrenched since than the Rattle Hydroelectric Project Drabshalla is closed and the L&T company has left the work of the project,
