JAMMU, Nov 1: A youth was shot at this evening by Personal Security Officer (PSO) of an ex-MP over the issue of alleged eve-teasing of the PSO’s daughter by the youth.
Police said the victim has been identified as Sunil Kumar (22) son of Ramesh Kumar, a resident of Shahpur (Bishnah).
They said ASI Balkar Singh, who is the PSO of ex-MP and BJP leader Lal Singh, fired two shots from his service revolver, one of which hit the victim in his stomach and another at the legs.
The profusely bleeding youth was immediately shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where his condition is stated to be serious.
Police said the accused PSO has been arrested and a case under relevant Sections has been registered at police station Bishnah. During initial investigations, it came to fore that the accused fired at youth in a fit of rage as he (youth) teased his daughter.
Police parties led by SHO Bishnah Inspector Narinder Singh made the arrest.
