Youths’ role vital in social reformation: Shantmanu

JAMMU, Jan 11: The Red Cross Mela organized by IRCS Jammu at Gulshan Ground concluded here today.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu Shantmanu was the chief guest at the valedictory function.
He visited various stalls put up by Governmental and private organizations and interacted with the students, officers, and others who were managing the stalls.
While speaking on the occasion, Shantmanu said that involvement of youth in social services is imperative to imbibe love for humanity among them which is need of the hour. He hoped that the participating youth would spread the message of Red Cross among their peer groups and all those who come in their contact in day to day life.
He applauded the efforts of Red Cross Society in organizing this mega event which would further help promotion of philanthropic services of this voluntary organisation.
On the occasion, a colourful cultural programme depicting State’s rich cultural heritage besides folk dances of different regions of the country were presented by the students of various educational institutions. Besides, a dog show was also organised.
The stalls with State cuisines like Wazwan, Kehva and Kebab, Dogri Food, Chat Papri and Fast Food attracted huge gathering of people.
On the occasion, the officers provided pamphlets and other literature with regard to the schemes being implemented by their respective departments.
