YRS continues protest for holiday on birth anniversary of Maharaja

JAMMU, Sept 9: Rajput community of Marh area and Pargwal today held strong protest demonstration against the State Government for not declaring September 23, Maharaja Hari Singh’s birth anniversary, a gazetted holiday.
The protest was led by Rajveer Singh, president Yuva Rajput Sabha, who said that today’s protest was in continuation with the earlier one, organized by Yuva Rajput Sabha at Press Club for declaration of 23rd September as a gazzetted holiday in the State.
“Maharaja Hari Singh contributed a lot for the State of J&K and for the betterment of the poor and needy people of the State,” he said and rued that despite passage of a resolution by the State Legislative Council, the Government was not declaring holiday on birth anniversary of the Maharaja. “We held meetings with several Minister and MLAs but still there has been no response by the Government officials,” he added
Rajveer also threatened that if the Government fails to declare September 23 as a gazzeted holiday, Yuva Rajput Sabha will hold strong protest demonstrations. He also announced that on the eve of Maharaja’s birth anniversary, Shoba Yatra will be taken out like last year and the birthday will be celebrated like a festival.
Others who took part in the protest demonstration, included Surinder Singh, Rajinder Singh, Rajveer, Mukesh Singh, Manja, Mahesh, Vicky, Rajan Singh, Kaku, Prem, Daljeet Singh, Raghu, Singh, Jaswant Singh, Tinu, Manga, Bahadur Singh, Happy, Raju, Tinnu, Vicky, Vishal, Fentu, Rohit Singh and Mukesh.
