JAMMU, Dec 20: Senior BJP leader, Yudhvir Sethi today accused Congress of misleading people on recently passed Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
In a statement issued here, the senior BJP leader said that Congress is indulging in rumour mongering to spread hatred among different communities just to satiate its own vested interest.
Sethi said that J&K has a rich culture of people having different faith and ethnicities living together in harmony but Congress just for its electoral gains is trying to destabilize the peace in the region under the garb of protests and demonstrations. He asserted that though the Centre had clarified that CAA was not against the interests of any particular community in India, the Congress that was frustrated by continuous electoral setbacks was trying to reap political benefits by misleading people over the issue. He alleged that by inciting violence over the issue of CAA, the Congress leaders were acting against the interests of the nation.
“Contrary to what is being projected, the Citizenship Amendment Act will rather go a long way in giving more opportunities to people and ensure development in more progressive manner. It surely will strengthen the country by fortifying set-up properly against anti-nationals,” he said, adding that J&K will also get relief in terms of getting rid of illegal foreign immigrants especially Rohingyas.
“There is no special focus on some targeting a particular section of society. However, opposition is creating a misconception in public that CAA is meant only for Muslim community. But the truth is that there is no such agenda of the Government to expel some targeted community. CAA is very mandatory for our country because there are lot of such illegal migrants who are continuously posing a serious threat to our security and safety. Moreover they are illegally exploiting the resources of our country which is meant for our own tax-paying public and citizens,” Sethi emphasized.
