JAMMU, July 31: Jammu and Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) vice president, Yudhvir Sethi, voiced his profound disappointment against the working of J&K Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) for its failure to complete the bridge in Kanna Shargal Panchayat of village Bajalta, on the outskirts of Jammu.
The project was initiated more than three years ago and has yet to be completed, causing immense hardships to the people of the area, he said.
In response to the ongoing delay and to express solidarity with the aggrieved locals of Kanna Panchayat, Yudhvir Sethi today joined the protest organized by the people of Bajalta. Sham Singh, Mandal vice president, Abdul Hussain district president, ST Morcha, Sunny Sharma, general secretary Mandal, Nasib Singh booth president, Sardar Singh, Attar Hussain, Mandal president, ST Morcha, Shubam Sharma and Bawa Sharma also joined the protest.
Talking to media persons, Sethi highlighted that the project titled “Tutan Di Khui to Khad Madana Road,” with a cost of Rs 26 crore and a road length of 11 kilometers, started on 1st October 2021, with an initial completion period of 15 months. However, the project has not made any progress, leaving it incomplete.
Sethi took a stern stance against the inefficiencies of the ERA, emphasizing the significance of the project for the region. The incomplete bridge hinders access to the other end of Tutan Di Khui to Khad Madana road, which ultimately reaches Purmandal.
The delayed completion of the bridge has disrupted the daily lives of the local residents, with school children and people facing difficulties.
Sethi questioned the ERA’s inability to complete the bridge despite the existence of similar projects being finished in a remarkably shorter time frame. He drew attention to the successful construction of the New Parliament building in just 24 months, raising concerns about the reasons behind the prolonged delay of the project.
Sethi assured the people of Bajalta that the BJP is committed to address their concerns and resolve the issue without any further delay.
He asked senior functionaries of ERA to expedite the completion of the bridge and ensure that the long-awaited project is accomplished to alleviate the suffering of the people. The people also warned ERA to intensify agitation.
