JAMMU, July 3: BJP vice president, Yudhvir Sethi today urged the SSP Jammu, Chandan Kohli that proactive measures be initiated to streamline the traffic movement in Jammu city which would be in ultimate interest and welfare of people including shopkeepers.
Sethi, who led a delegation of Lower Gummat residents and shopkeepers to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu, Chandan Kohli discussed various issues related to smooth traffic flow, proper verification of hotels in their locality and regular surveillance by police patrol party.
Sethi said that the several areas of Jammu city are facing heavy rush both in terms of pedestrian as well as vehicular movement due to which most often these areas witness traffic chaos resulting in great inconvenience to the people as well as the passers-by. Moreover it also results in hindrance to the business of shopkeepers running their establishments in the area, he added.
Sethi said that in view of the Old Bus Stand near Lower Gummat besides being the main entrance to the City of Temples during Maharaja’s times these areas developed as business centers in the modern times and majority of hotel and restaurant enterprises dominate this part of the City thus further adding to the already heavy footfall in the areas.
Sethi asked the SSP that proper vigil be maintained in the entire city areas through the security patrolling party in the current scenario in which antinational elements are hell bent upon creating law and order problem. He also urged the SSP to ensure that proper verification of outsiders residing in hotels is carried out in the locality without causing any inconvenience to the customers or the hotel owners.
SSP Chandan Kohli assured the delegation to address the issues raised by them at the earliest.
The delegation comprised of Rajiv Gupta Raju, president Below Gummat Bazar Traders Association; its vice president, Anita Gupta; cashier, Vaishno Gupta; secretary Dinesh Gupta and convenor, district Sanskriti Cell, Sahil Mahajan.
