JAMMU, Mar 16: Senior BJP leader and MLA Jammu East constituency, Yudhvir Sethi, has strongly backed the “One Nation, One Election” policy, calling it essential for political stability, reducing election costs, and improving governance.
Speaking at a workshop today, where political leaders and experts discussed the importance of simultaneous elections in India, Sethi highlighted the challenges posed by frequent elections.
Sethi argued that elections held at different times for the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies disrupt development, burden the national budget, and delay long-term policies.
He emphasized that conducting elections together would create a more stable and efficient governance model.
The MLA also linked the idea to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) by 2047.
Addressing the financial strain of repeated elections, Sethi suggested that the money spent on multiple electoral processes could be better used for welfare programs and national development.
He urged all political parties to unite for the greater good and prioritize the country’s progress over political rivalry.
The workshop, which included legal experts, political analysts, and senior BJP leaders, concluded with a call for raising public awareness and support for this electoral reform.
The participants agreed that “One Nation, One Election” is a necessary step to strengthen India’s democratic institutions and governance.
