RAJOURI, Jan 5: General secretary of J&K BJP Yudhvir Sethi today accused the Congress and other opportunistic parties of instigating people on the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and triggering violence by spreading wrong perception about the new law.
He alleged that the Congress has become “directionless” and in its bid to remain relevant, it was trying to spread rumours and spark violence. Sethi said this while imparting awareness among the people with regard to CAA while campaigning along with BJP leader Omi Khajuria at Sunderbani, Nowshera and Rajouri district.
“Ever since the Citizen Amendment Act was passed in the Parliament, the opposition started spreading wrong perception (about it) in the country. They tried to instigate youngsters and spread violence at different places,” Sethi said.
The senior BJP leader alleged that oppositions or those oppose the CAA try to divide the country on communal lines as they couldn’t face the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on political front. He questioned why Congress is against these migrated people who are the victim of persecution. He said that this law does not gifts Citizenship to anyone, but works as life saving for religiously persecuted minorities of neighbouring non-secular Nations.
Sethi said that in 1947, top Congress leaders assured these minorities that they are welcome to India at any point of time, if they feel insecure in those Nations. However, he said that at present many senior Congress leaders have voiced their concerns for the safety of minorities in these Nations, and now, U-turn of Congress is really a matter of shame.
He said the CAA will not take away the citizenship of any Indian. “Muslims in the country need not worry about this Act,” he further said appealed the Muslim community not to fall prey to the disinformation campaign carried out by some opposition parties.
Rajinder Gupta (BJP district president Rajouri), Capt Bal Krishan Sharma (BJP district president Nowshera), Neena Sharma (Chairperson Municipal Committees), Corporators and Sarpanches were also present.
