*Reiterates demand of holiday on Sept 23

JAMMU, Nov 23: The activist of Yuva Rajput Sabha today held strong protest demonstration at main Tawi bridge here demanding holiday on Sept 23, the birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh and conducted `gherao’ of J&K UT BJP president, Ravinder Raina.
A large number of activists of Yuva Rajput Sabha led by its president, Rajan Singh Happy and assisted by chairman- Raghubir Singh, patron Rajinder Singh, senior vice president Mandeep Singh Chib, general secretary Vikramjit Singh Manhas and others, assembled in the park in front of the statue of Maharaja Hari Singh at main Tawi bridge during the day on Tuesday and started strong protest demonstration. They were carrying banners, flags and raising slogans demanding holiday on Sept 23 in J&K, on the birthday of Maharaja Hari Singh.
Sabha president, chairman and other leaders also addressed the gathering and criticized the LG’s Administration for not addressing their demand despite assurances by BJP leaders and others in the Administration. They said if their demand is not addressed, they will be bound to intensify their agitation. Click here to watch video
The protesting youth also blocked Tawi bridge for about an hour and disrupted the movement of traffic. The Traffic police authorities later diverted traffic towards Gujjar Nagar and 4th Tawi bridge. A long traffic jam had been created there.
The J&K BJP president Ravinder Raina was accidently passing through the Tawi bridge. He was made to come out of the vehicle by protesters and taken to the protest dharna site. The youth conducted his ‘gharao’ for some time and made him to make announcement on the spot. Raina declared that it was genuine demand of the Yuva Rajput Sabha and even the BJP fully supports the same. He said that this demand must be addressed.
Meanwhile, Addl Deputy Commissioner Jammu Ghanshyam arrived on the spot to pacify the protesting youth. The Sabha leaders submitted a memorandum to the ADC for the LG Manoj Sinha. He assured to the youth that within one week, a meeting of the Yuva Rajput Sabha with LG will be organized where in, the issue will be taken up. On the assurance of the ADC, the youth then lifted dharna and allowed movement of the vehicles.
