Zanskar delegation calls on Governor

Jammu, Feb 17: Punchok Tashi, nominated Councilor and former Executive Councilor and Tsering Angdus Councilor Karsha Constituency in LAHDC Kargil, called on NN Vohra, Governor at Raj Bhawan here today in order to apprise the Governor about the latest progress on Tsarap river blockage in Lungnak Zanskar.
The Councilors discussed in depth with Governor about the probable solution to release water in the river normally from the artificial lake formation due to landslide near Marshun since December 31, 2014.
The delegation further requested to immediately execute a way before temperature rise and snow start melting in the periphery of artificial lake and said that further delay  could prove fatal and disastrous in low lying villages from Phuktal in Zanskar to Sham area of Leh Distt.
Other issues takenup for redressal included, release and payment of compensation to the victims of  2012 police vandalism in Padum, intervention of Governor in declaring National Highway status and expedite in construction of  Nimmu-Padum -Darcha (Chadar road)  and Kargil-Padum National Highway, collection of form of SSRB and J&K PSC through SDM Zanskar when the area remains cutoff during winter period, deployment of snow cutter machine to clear snow from internal road of Zanskar and filling  of vacant post of doctors and lecturer in Hr Sec School and Govt Degree College Zanskar.
