JAMMU, July 16: The Inhabitants of Zazna Ganderbal feel totally scared after a leopard killed a three year girl old Mariya Shabir some days back while she had gone to her orchard along with her other family members.
The Sarpanch of the area, Hilal Ahmed Para said that the people of surrounding villages are totally scared following the incident and they don’t go out of their houses after dusk. He criticized the administration for not taking appropriate measures to trap the wild animal who has created a reign of terror in the area. Despite the repeated please of the people the administration has not bothered to depute the senior officers to the area.
He said except Wild Life officials no officer visited the village to take the stock of the situation. He said the Leopards have been seen many times wandering in the area and no appropriate action has been taken by the administration to restrict their movement.
Sarpanch said people feel totally scared to visit to their fields as the threat of the wild beasts looms large in the area. The father of Mariya, Shabir Ahmed said that administration should take prompt steps as earlier some incidents had also taken place in the area when the leopard attacked a group of people.
He said the body of the girl was thrown one km away by the leopard.
