Srinagar, Dec 13: The Director School Education Kashmir today suspended Zonal Education Officer Sogam Kupwara for misappropriation of funds.
A spokesman of the DSEK said here: “On the instructions of Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand the Director School Education Kashmir today ordered suspension of ZEO, Sogam Kupwara for misappropriation of funds. It was learnt that Zonal Education Officer Sogam Kupwara Abdul Khaliq Kumar had misused his position and misappropriated funds to the tune of Rs 8 lakh in the name of SSA School Building for a poultry farm.”
The spokesman said that the ZEO has misappropriated another Rs 20,000 out of Community Mobilization Fund.
“Acting on the instructions of Deputy Chief Minister, Mir Tariq Ali placed the ZEO under suspension vide Order No: DSEK/2367. DSEK has constituted an inquiry committee headed by Chief Education Officer Baramulla who has been advised to submit the inquiry report within 15 days to Director for further necessary action under rules”, the spokesman added.
