SRINAGAR, Dec 3: Zia Zahoor, a young sketch artist from the Old City Hawal area, is working tirelessly to bring attention to her art form with unwavering commitment and exceptional talent.
Her interest in sketching began in school when a teacher introduced her to the craft, and she has not looked back since. “I have been interested in sketching since my childhood,” she said.
To elevate her skills, Zia realized the importance of incorporating new elements into her art. She took a course in fashion designing and illustration, which further honed her talent. “The course in fashion designing and illustration improved my work,” she explained. Zia enjoys creating portraits, designs, and drawing inspiration from nature.
Coming from a small neighborhood in the heart of Hawal, Zia’s family recognized her passion for art early on and never discouraged her. “She was inclined towards it, and we never stopped her. If she has talent, we should encourage her,” her family said.
With the support of her family, Zia felt motivated to continually improve her craft. She began watching online videos to learn about the latest trends. “I have also watched online videos, which further enhanced my artistic abilities,” she said. Zia believes that the more she practices, the better she becomes. “First, it is important to find your hidden talent, work on it honestly, and showcase your work to stay motivated,” she advised.
Determined to pursue both sketching and her studies, Zia is focused on not missing out on either. “I will continue to work hard until I reach a point where I can make my family proud,” she said.
