NEW DELHI, May 8:Taking positive cues from overseas markets, zinc prices strengthened by 0.79 per cent to Rs 209.60 per kg in futures market today as speculators engaged in enlarging their positions.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in May went up by Rs 1.65, or 0.79 per cent to Rs 209.60 per kg in business turnover of 1,816 lots.
In a similar fashion, the metal for delivery in June edged up by Rs 1.55, or 0.74 per cent to Rs 209.80 per kg in 16 lots.
Analysts said sentiment in zinc remained firm after it climbed 1.5 per cent in London on expectations that Chinese data in the weeks ahead will show the economy in the world’s top metals consumer remained strong in April.
Meanwhile, zinc for delivery in three month climbed 1.5 per cent to USD 3,103 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange. (PTI)
