Zinc futures down 0.62 pc on global cues, sluggish demand

NEW DELHI, Dec 13: Amid a weak trend in the global markets and sluggish domestic demand, zinc futures prices today fell 0.62 per cent to Rs 121.10 per kg as participants reduced their positions.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in December traded lower by 75 paise, or 0.62 per cent, to Rs 121.10 per kg, with a business turnover of 549 lots.
The metal for delivery in January fell by 70 paise, or 0.57 per cent, to Rs 121.90 per kg in a turnover of 70 lots.
Marketmen said the fall in zinc prices at futures trade was mostly due to subdued spot demand and a weak trend in the base metals overseas as record output in China spurred oversupply concerns and speculation on the timing of stimulus cuts by the US Federal Reserve. (AGENCIES)
