Zinc futures rise 0.55% on overseas cues, spot demand

NEW DELHI, May 18:  Zinc futures went up by 0.55 per cent to Rs 146.35 per kg as speculators created positions amid a rising trend in base metals overseas and better domestic demand.
At Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in May was up by 80 paise, or 0.55 per cent, to Rs 146.35 per kg, with a business turnover of 237 lots.
The metal for delivery in June also rose 70 paise, or 0.48 per cent, to Rs 146.95 per kg, with a business turnover of 12 lots.
Marketmen said besides a firming trend at the domestic spot market, strength in select base metals at the London Metal Exchange drove the upside in zinc prices in futures trade. (PTI)
