SRINAGAR: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) and Information Department, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali today asked the petrol pump dealers to ensure quality services failing with their licenses would be suspended.
Chairing a review meeting with the representatives of various oil companies, the Minister said he has received several complaints from various quarters mentioning that there are some petrol pumps who fail to provide their consumers with basic facilities like clean washroom, drinking facility and free air facility at their stations.
The Minister said as per oil companies marketing disciplinary guidelines for running any petrol pump following these norms is mandatory.
Zulfkar Ali directed the concerned to issue a Government circular in this regard where the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) from across the State are directed to formulate monitoring committees in their respective districts.
Explaining the role of the committees, the Minister said within a month the monitoring committees would make frequent surprise visits to various petrol pumps to check if the inspecting pump owners are complying with the set guidelines. He directed the DCs that those found violating the norms should immediately be penalized by suspending their licenses.
Earlier, seeking an update on the work done on establishing of oil depots and gas bottling plants in districts of Rajouri, Anantnag, and Kargil, the Minister was informed that in Rajouri around 300 kanals of land has been identified. Similarly, for district Anantnag 187 kanals have been identified by the district administration, while the meeting was informed that in Kargil 98.2 kanals have been identified for gas bottling plant, 71.6 kanals identified for establishing oil depot there.
The Minister stressed upon oil companies representatives to be more proactive so that the desired work gets done at an earliest. He asked all the concerned oil companies to place their indent requests at an earliest to the concerned Directors of FCS&CA for further processing.
During the meeting, the Minister also desired that oil companies need to increase their work under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). He suggested for construction of shelter shed for Buddha Amarnath yatris in Rajouri district. Likewise, for construction of wayside facilities for tourist in Anantnag district, the Minister directed the concerned DC to formulate a detailed proposal that would be submitted to the oil companies afterwards.
Secretary FCS&CA Shafiq Raina, Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Syed Abid Rashid, Director FCS&CA Jammu R A Inqulabi, Director FCS&CA Kashmir Nissar Ahmad Wani, Joint Controller Legal Metrology Department (LMD) Srinagar Amar Singh, Joint Controller LMD Jammu V S Sambyal, Dy Controller Jammu LMD Manoj Prabakhar, and other concerned officers along with representatives from Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation, Indian Oil Corporation attended the meeting.
