Zulfkar calls for shifting of oil depots, bottling plants from inhabited areas

JAMMU, Apr 15: Minister for CAPD Choudhary Zulfkar Ali today chaired a high level meeting of oil companies and concerned departments to discuss the modalities for shifting of oil depots and bottling plants from inhabited areas in Jammu to safer locations.
The Minister asked Divisional Commissioner Jammu to constitute a committee comprising ACRs of Jammu, Udhampur and Samba, representatives of oil companies, Forest Department and Wildlife Warden to identify suitable location for relocating oil depots. He asked them to submit a report within one week in this regard.
Laying stress on safety measures, Minister said that the land should be away from residential area to avoid any eventuality as happened in Jaipur. He asked the concerned departments to prioritize identification of suitable land for establishment of three oil depots at same location or make it possible to set up these units at three different patches in same district.
The Minister asked the concerned to make sure that the land is located near good road and is accessible with railway connectivity.  He exhorted upon them to complete this process on fast track basis, so that work could be started on these projects within minimum possible time. He also said that he will take up this vital matter with the Chief Minister to work out an effective mechanism for smooth functioning of these companies which cater to basic needs of people.
Among others, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Secretary CAPD Satesh Nehru, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Director CAPD, VC JDA, representatives of Oil Companies, Fire Services Department and Revenue Department were present in the meeting.
