Zulfkar calls on Dalai Lama at Leh

LEH, July 28: Minister for Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution & Tribal Affair, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali called on Dalai Lama here today.
Appreciating the peace endeavours of Dalai Lama, the Minister apprised him about the efforts put in by J&K Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in restoring peace and improving the overall scenario in Jammu and Kashmir.
Later, the Minster also convened a review meeting to take stock of the status of food-grains, LPG, Petroleum, Diesel and K-Oil in the district. The meeting was attended by Director CA&PD Abdul Rashid War, Assistant Director CA&PD Leh Sherab Gyaltson, Inspectors, Senior Storekeepers of CA&PD Leh and representatives of Indian Oil Corporation, Hindustan Petroleum and local bottling plant.
The Minister enquired about the stock position, supply of ration and details of the sale centers in the district.
The Minister asked Director CA&PD to check the feasibility of opening of petrol pump in Nubra sub-division and take up the matter with concerned Ministry immediately. He also recommended opening of a new petrol pump at Nyoma on Leh-Demjok road. The Minister also directed IOC to make the petrol pump at Khalsi operational at the earliest.
The Minister also directed Director CA&PD to issue license to run private sale centers and fair price shops in the district.
To ensure sufficient supply and home delivery of LPG cylinders in the district, the Minister instructed Hindustan Petroleum and Indian Oil Corporation to increase the storage capacity and improve their infrastructure facilities and also directed them to ensure proper home delivery service in the district.
Pointing to the misuse of domestic LPG cylinders for commercial purpose, the Minister instructed the local officers of the CA&PD Department to constitute a committee to prevent such malpractices. The Minister directed Controller Metrology Leh to ensure regular market checking including proper weighing of LPG Cylinders.
Expressing safety concerns on IOC Depot located in the heart of city, the Minister directed CA&PD to take up the matter with concerned Ministry for shifting of the depot to a safer place. He stressed on ensuring sufficient stock of winter supply before the closure of National Highways.
