RAJOURI, May 18: Minister for Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali today conducted surprise inspections at various Govt Sales Depots and fair price shops at Sunderbani, Nowshera and Dandsar in Rajouri district.
The Minister checked the rate lists, weighing machines, log books and reviewed the stock position at various food stores.
He asked the ration distributors to display rate lists outside the shops and strictly follow the timings under NFSA regime.
The Minister further said that strict action would be taken against those indulging in black-marketing and pilferage of food grains. The department has already terminated 4 officers, suspended 58 officials and ordered enquiries against 21 employees of the department for indulging in such activities. The Minister directed the officers/officials of the department to ensure transparency and accountability in the distribution of food grains in the State.
While inspecting the Govt Sales Depot & Food Store at Sunderbani, the Minister found excess stock of rice in the store and Atta was not distributed among the beneficiaries for last few months. The Minister ordered the suspension of Tehsil Supply officer, Storekeeper and other staff at the depot.
Listening to demands of the people, the Minister said that four new sales depots will be opened in the area for streamlining the supply of food.
Director CA&PD Jammu GS Chib accompanied the Minister during the inspection.
