Zulfkar constitutes committees to monitor ration distribution

JAMMU, Apr 9: Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) & Tribal Affairs Ch. Zulfkar Ali today asked for constitution of committees  to be tasked with effective monitoring of relief ration distribution among the flood victims and directed them to submit report within shortest possible time.
The Minister gave these directions during the follow up review meeting of CA&PD officers here today.
The Minister took a detailed review of the stocks and supply position   of Atta, Rice, Wheat, Sugar, Kerosene Oil and LPG in Jammu province.
Regarding pending carriage liabilities of dealers, the Minister said that the matter would be taken up with the Finance Department for early release of pending amount besides strategies will also be worked out to streamline the payment system of the department in future. For this purpose, he ordered  creation of monitoring cell headed by Joint Director in Directorate office which will oversee and process the cases of disbursement of carriage charges.
The Minister gave a time of one month to SRTC to provide vehicles to the department as per requirement to ensure timely supply of essentials to the consumer.
He also impressed upon the concerned officers to ensure completion of physical verification of departmental stores and depots   regarding stock position of food grains within a period of 15 days.
Taking stock of displaying of signboards and installation of calibrated weighing machines, the Minister reiterated that the directions have already been given to ensure that that the dealers at all depots install and use Digital Weighing Scales  and asked concerned  officers to take strict action against those dealers who have not installed the same yet. He also directed authorities to ensure every ration dealer and fair price shop should display the signboards.
Meanwhile, Zulfkar also constituted various committees which include a three member committee to reassess the carriage charges, committee to rationalize K- oil scale strictly as per requirement and a committee to evolve a detailed transportation plan for timely upliftment of food grains.
Secretary CAPD, Director CAPD, MD JKSRTC, besides other officers of allied departments attended the meeting.
