JAMMU, Aug 23: Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) and Tribal Affairs, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali convened a meeting to review the delivery mechanism of LPG cylinders from the representatives of various Oil Companies.
Director CAPD, G. S. Chib, Additional Commissioner, Rehana Batool, Joint Controller Legal Metrology, Amar Singh, Deputy Controller Legal Metrology, Manoj Prabhakar, representatives of various oil companies and other senior officers attended the meeting.
Taking a detailed review of overall distribution scenario in Jammu region, the Minister directed the concerned to put in serious efforts to improve quality of services provided by them, adding that convenience of people is the priority of the Coalition Government.
He directed the oil companies to ensure timely distribution of LPG cylinders to the consumers.
Zulfkar stressed upon oil companies to do away with Point Delivery System and instructed them to ensure cent percent home delivery to the consumers, besides speedy disposal of all pending cases under Direct Benefit Transfer Scheme.
Referring to certain irregularities in timely delivery of services, the Minister said that several bottlenecks impeding the effective monitoring mechanism need to be checked.
The Minister asked the concerned authorities to keep strict vigil to prevent use of domestic cylinders for commercial purpose, adding that those who are found involved in such malpractices should be dealt with strictly.
During the meeting, Zulfkar urged upon the oil companies to take strict action against erring distributors of LPG, adding that complaints against such distributors should be forwarded to Petroleum Ministry.
