SRINAGAR: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Choudhary Zulfkar Ali today convened a meeting to review the progress of digitization of the Department and to take stock of availability of essentials in view of prevailing inclement weather conditions.
Director FCS&CA Kashmir, Special Secretary FCS&CA, Deputy Controller Legal Meteorology, FCS&CA Assistant Directors of Kashmir Division attended the meeting, while as Assistant Directors from Jammu Division participated in the meeting via video conferencing.
The Minister was briefed about the status of various initiatives taken by the Department to switch over to digital mode. It was given that in Jammu division, the department has achieved 100 percent digitization, while as in Kashmir division work for digitization would be completed in a week’s time.
On the occasion, Zulfkar said that introduction of electronic point of sale (e-PoS) devices at food sale outlets would help in increasing transparency in the functioning of the Department. He said that the device authenticates beneficiaries during distribution of food grains and also electronically records the quantity.
The meeting also discussed availability of essential commodities in view of adverse weather conditions prevailing in the Kashmir Division.
