Zulfkar reviews stock position of essentials in Valley

SRINAGAR, Nov 15: Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Ch Zulfkar Ali reviewed the stock position of ration, LPG and kerosene in Kashmir valley at an officers meeting here today.
Secretary CAPD and Director CA&PD Kashmir, Assistant Directors of all the districts of the valley besides representatives of oil companies were present on the occasion.
The meeting was informed that 97581 MT of rice is available in the  godowns apart from 10587 MT of wheat. It was given out that the stock is sufficient for next three months as the monthly requirement of rice is 32527 MTs and that of wheat is 3529 MTs.
The representative of petrol companies informed the minister that bulk stock of LPG is available for 15 days while stocking of LPG cylinders is a continuous process.
The Minister directed the company to stock 3520 MT of LPG for winters by 20th of this month so that public may not suffer during winters.
The minister asked the officers to ensure proper and timely distribution of ration among the consumers during winter season in the valley.
Stressing on the officers to work with efficiency and transparency, Zulfkar said; “Ration distribution should be done as per the fixed quota of 35 Kgs with effective, timely and transparent distribution, so that the general public do not face any inconvenience.”
Zulfkar said the department is making various efforts to streamline the functioning of the department besides distribution of ration among the consumers. He instructed the authorities to ensure that those TSOs who have been recently reshuffled will join on new posts by Monday positively.
Director CAPD asked the representatives of IOC to store sufficient quantity of LPG cylinders in the valley for which the department will provide space at Pulwama district.
